Easter Themed Recorder Game

My third graders are right on the B-A-G level for recorder.  They've been really busy with their Cowboy program these past few weeks, and, while we've been working on music reading, absolute pitches, and recorder playing as well, I'm happy to shift their focus.

I already have a ton of B-A-G resources and ideas, but a few more couldn't hurt!  So I created these Easter Themed games for them to play.  The download includes the matching game and PowerPoint game as well.

Easter Spelling - Do-Mi-So-La

My 2nd graders are working away on Do-Mi-So-La patterns (almost ready for Do-pentatonic - yay).  I created this bunch of downloads for them: Easter Music Spelling Activities - Do-Mi-So-La

I included a set in both F Major and G Major - that way we get the lines and the spaces in.

I like using these PowerPoints to help explain to the students what they will do with the printables.  When an egg is clicked on, it takes the students to the a pattern on an egg to sing.

Music Spelling - Bunny Edition

My 4th graders really enjoyed using the St. Patrick's Day Music Spelling game.  It was a nice opportunity for me to assess their progress as well.  I decided to create a second, similar activity, this one with an Easter-theme.  Here's, Music Spelling - Bunny Edition.

There are twelve bunnies.  I've made them tall enough that the students can place the corresponding basket on top, without covering the letters.  That way, when I'm checking, I can see both the word and the basket and assess their work quickly.  I have the students lay out the bunnies in two rows of six (nice and neat) and match the baskets one by one on top.

Before they complete this activity, we go through a PowerPoint game together, where the students must read six patterns on the eggs (like the one below) in order to help the Easter Bunny collect them back in his basket.

I also created a composition follow-up activity.  The students cut out the four eggs and use them to spell a word on the staff.
